Storms, hail roll through central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida was hit with flooding rains and hail during Monday evening's rush hour.

Severe storms began rolling in early in the afternoon, drifting southward, according to Severe Weather Center 9 meteorologist George Waldenberger, and in Flagler County, a tornado warning was issued through 3 pm.

Channel 9 has received many reports of hail, flooding and even a weak, unconfirmed tornado reported in Ocala.

Residents in the Oakland area reported golfball-sized hail.

In Orange City, viewers said storms have caused tree limbs to fall, one of them crushing a vehicle on its way down.

Strong storms rain continued into the evening but by 11 p.m. were starting to weaken.

WFTV chief meteorologist Tom Terry said that more storms and heavy rain are expected Tuesday.
