Storms develop Sunday afternoon as temperatures soar during the day

ORLANDO, Fla. — 4:00 p.m. Update:

Afternoon storms will be fairly scattered today, watching for isolated clusters of lightning and pockets of heavy rain that could produce minor street flooding.

Storms are building closer to Orlando over the next couple hours and some will linger a few hours into the evening.

Sunday will be hot and steamy, with high temperatures reaching the low 90s.

Sunday’s heat index will range from 99-104 degrees.

Showers and storms will develop in the afternoon. We can expect spotty showers between 2 - 4 p.m., and stronger storms will be possible from 4 - 8 p.m.

The heaviest rain should be from the Interstate 4 corridor to the west.
