Original report:

Scattered storms are firing up with the potential for downpours and isolated street flooding, dangerous lightning, small hail and strong gusts of winds.

WATCH: Afternoon showers stick around, possible record highs next week

There was also a tornado reported from the same batch of storms over Jacksonville just before 2 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of Brevard County until 3 p.m.

Through 6 p.m., strong storms will be scattered about and building into the Orlando metro neighborhoods, with more storms this evening, especially west.

While some storms will linger well into the evening, our hope is that most associated cloud cover can clear by Sunday night’s total lunar eclipse.

Channel 9 will continue to monitor the storms and provide live reports on Eyewitness News.
