Hurricane Preparedness Week: New weather products for the 2020 season

ORLANDO, Fla. — This year’s hurricane season is looking to be an active one, but you know how the saying goes, “It only takes one!”. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing if one will hit or not. Forecasts have improved in many ways in the past decades. For example, the trend shows that the cone of uncertainty is decreasing. In the past few years, intensity models have shown an improvement. Preparedness is key though. We can have the most precise, exact and reliable models and forecast, but if residents don’t prepare ahead of time, all the forecasting is worthless.

Certified meteorologist George Waldenberger talked to meteorologist Kevin Rodriguez at the National Weather Service in Melbourne about the new products that we will be using this year. Watch his report below.
