Watch the launch and return of Falcon 9 to Earth, here.
ORLANDO, Fla. — The weather cleared just in time across Cape Canaveral for the historic launch. AS the sea breeze kicked in just about one out before launch, taking the energy inland and away from the coast. The few storms nearby were winding down and the sky was clearing.
Remember, a rocket launching through clouds doesn’t create lightning, but it can trigger lightning to form in the cloud, which as you can imagine this would not be good for a rocket.
The sea breeze has finally kicked in.. that's a good thing for the launch. The storms that were developing near the Cape and moving east are slowing winding down. This is sooo nerve-racking! SHOO SHOO Storms! #launchday #stormalert9 pic.twitter.com/W4k2a9y1fc
