NHC tracking first disturbance of 2022 Atlantic hurricane season in Gulf of Mexico

ORLANDO, Fla. — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico near Florida.

The storm system has a low chance for tropical development and there is no current risk to Central Florida.

Storm modules do not look favorable for significant development as of Sunday evening.

It is possible the disturbance could bring heavy rain to the Central Gulf Coast and Florida panhandle.
