The storm is not a threat to the U.S., as Channel 9 meteorologist Brian Shields said it is located in the north Atlantic and is heading in the general direction of western Europe.

The storm has winds of between 75 and 80 mph and is expected to strengthen into a Category 2 storm.

Channel 9 meteorologist Kassandra Crimi said she is also monitoring two additional areas of low pressure in the Atlantic.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a tropical depression or our next named storm, which will be Earl, by the end of the weekend or early next week,” Crimi said.
