Eye on the Tropics: Tropical Storm Rose forms to join Peter in the Atlantic

ORLANDO, Fla. — 5 p.m. Update:

Tropical Storm Rose has formed, and will stay well out in the Atlantic. There are no current threats to Florida.

Tropical Storm Peter continues to look as though it will stay off our shore as well.

So far every Tropical Depression this season, all 17, have earned names.

Sam and Teresa will be next as we watch for more disturbances likely to move off the West African Coast through the end of September and into early October.

Overnight, Tropical Depression #16 became Tropical Storm Peter.

This storm is expected to be east of the Bahamas by the end of the week, remaining a weak tropical storm.

Currently, there are no threats to Central Florida.

Just off the coast of Africa we have Tropical Depression #17.

Initial models indicate this storm will remain out at sea through the week.
