Disturbance in the Caribbean likely to develop into a tropical depression by early next week

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tropical disturbance 95L is slowly brewing in the southeastern Caribbean, where models show it gradually getting better organized this weekend, Channel 9 chief meteorologist Tom Terry said.

Models keep the system over the Caribbean through Monday, Terry said.

As of Friday, the models do not show the system moving into the Gulf of Mexico.

Channel 9 meteorologist Rusty McCranie said there is now a 70% chance of tropical depression formation in the Caribbean by this weekend or early next week.

He said that this system is not a threat to Florida at this point.

As the storm continues to shift west, there is potential for further development.
