Lane of I-95 southbound reopen after tanker truck tips over, spills fuel across highway

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A tanker truck turned on its side on I-95, spilling biodiesel fuel across the roadway and shutting down all lanes of southbound traffic Thursday morning.

Traffic cameras in the area near mile marker 197 show the truck on its side and liquid on the roadway. All lanes of traffic are closed southbound south of State Road 520 beginning around 10:15 a.m..

Brevard Fire Rescue is on scene. Firefighters said hazmat crews are attempting to stop the fuel leak, which spilled approximately 7,200 gallons of fuel on the roadway.

Florida Highway Patrol said the truck overturned after the driver became distracted and that no other vehicles were involved. They said the driver had minor injures. All lanes of the road reopened by 3 p.m.
