OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A man was killed Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash involving an Osceola County deputy, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported on US-192 and Lindsfield Boulevard in the Four Corners area Friday morning.

Troopers said three cars were stopped at a red light, but Deputy Gloria Boccio behind those drivers failed to stop, slamming into the back of a pickup truck.

The collision caused a chain reaction into two other cars.

Troopers said the driver of the pickup truck, a 34-year-old man from Clermont, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died.

The man has not been identified.

The deputy was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Pictures from the scene showed the front of a deputy’s cruiser mangled and three other vehicles with damage.

Sheriff Russ Gibson said he ordered all important information about the deputy and her 2018 Dodge Charger to be handed over to troopers, including her personnel file and the car's black box.

Gibson would not say if the deputy's vehicle has had prior issues.

Channel 9 also pressed Gibson about whether the deputy could have been distracted. He said police vehicles have phones, computers, radios, and scanners but did not say if any of those played a role in the crash.

The deputy will be placed on administrative leave while an investigation takes place.
