BETHESDA, Md. — Montverde Academy advanced to the semifinals at the National High School Invitational in Bethesda, Maryland with a 62-54 win over Indiana's La Lumiere High School.
The Eagles led the entire second half with junior Kasey Hill, a Florida Gators commit, dumping in a game high 19 points. Fellow Florida Gators recruit, Michael Frazier added 16 points for Montverde.
The Eagles will now play Maryland's Montrose Christian in the semifinals on Friday at 11:30am on ESPN2.
On the girl's bracket at the NHSI, Edgewater, the number four seed, will take on top seeded Riverdale Baptist in the first round on Friday at 3:30pm on ESPNU. The Eagles will be playing without all-american Alexis Prince who is in Denver for an all-star game.
Dr. Phillips High School, the number two seed in the girl's tournament, will also be missing one of its stars when they take on third seeded HD Woodson in the semifinals. Panthers junior Hannah Schaible is out of the country on an academic trip. Dr. Phillips plays at 5:30pm on ESPNU.
