ORLANDO, Fla. -- John Rhys Plumlee is a two-sport athlete at UCF. He is the starting quarterback for the football team and the starting center fielder for the baseball team.
Thursday morning, he competed for 4-5 series in UCF’s second spring football scrimmage. He then took a private jet from Orlando to Greenville, North Carolina to play for the Knights in their road doubleheader at East Carolina. First pitch in Game 1 was set for 2:00 and he arrived in North Carolina just before 1:00.
Plumlee started in center field and finished 1-3 with a double. UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn said he has been great with managing both practice schedules. He has yet to miss a football practice for the Knights this spring.
