Classic Miami Dolphins games to air on Channel 9: What you need to know

Can’t wait for the start of football season? You’re in luck.

Channel 9 will air four classic Miami Dolphins games over the next two weeks.

Tune in on Friday at 9 p.m. to watch the Dolphins play to preserve their team’s title of the only perfect season in NFL history as they played the then-undefeated Chicago Bears in 1985.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to finish a season undefeated. Coming into this week 13 match up, the Bears were a perfect 12-0. The Dolphins were 8-4 and with Dan Marino at the helm. They pulled the upset to keep the ’72 Dolphins as the only perfect team in NFL history.

Next Saturday, Aug. 29, time travel back to 1993 at 8 p.m. and watch coach Don Shula earn the title of the NFL’s winningest coach, as he leads the Dolphins to a win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Sept. 2, we jump ahead one year to 1994 as the Dolphins face the New York Jets in this game remembered for its fake spike. The game will air on Channel 8 at 4 p.m.

For the final classic game showcase airing on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m., we’ll jump to 2008 to watch the Dolphins play the Patriots.
