Get flat tire supplies at our Orlando auto service center!
First things first – supplies. Our auto service center in Orlando can help you get your hands on them, but here’s a basic breakdown of what you should keep in your trunk in case of a flat tire!
- A spare tire
- A jack
- A lug wrench
- A can of Fix-a-flat for emergencies
- A tire gauge for measuring pressure
- A flashlight (in case you get a flat at night)
Our auto service techs give you steps to change a flat tire!
Once you’ve amassed those supplies and put them in your trunk, you’re ready to change a flat tire! Our Orlando auto service center has listed out the steps for you to make it as simple as possible – here goes!
1) Pull over off of the road – get as far away from traffic as you can, and be sure that you find a smooth flat spot to park that’s not full of sand (or ant hills). Our auto service center also advised turning on your hazard lights for better visibility to others.
2) Remove the hubcap and loosen the lugnuts on the tire using your lug wrench, but don’t remove them just yet.
3) Jack your car up! Our Orlando auto service center advises checking your owner’s manual to see where you should place the jack (if you put it in the wrong spot you can damage your car or hurt yourself).
4) Once the car is high enough from the ground (usually about 6 inches), remove the rest of the lugnuts and pull the tire off, pulling straight towards you.
5) Don’t lose the lugnuts. You’re going to need them again.
6) Put the spare on your car, sliding it straight on. If you haven’t purchased a spare tire yet, you can do so at our Toyota auto service center in Orlando – we’ve got some great deals running!
7) Tighten the lugnuts – make sure they are as tight as you can get them, and move in a circle so you tighten all of them equally. Remember, these are keeping the wheel on the car! Replace your hubcap, and you’re off! (But not too far – spares usually only last about 70 miles, so get into our Toyota Service Center for a new tire!)
