The meeting was held to discuss culture problems that could have prompted an incident last week involving several football players.

In a video posted to social media, some of those students appeared to take part in lewd behavior inside a locker room. The district suspended several of those involved as well as all football activities. The varsity head coach was also relieved of his duties until further notice.

The meeting was private, but school leaders did hold a news conference after.

The entire football team will undergo anti-hazing training, and the district will evaluate from there.

“What we had tonight was a group of people who knew that what happened is not representative of Viera High School,” School Board Chairman Matt Susin said.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating what happened, and the district said they don’t know how long that could take.
