Tron Lightcycle / Run opens at Disney World Tuesday. Here are 9 things to know

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The countdown is almost over.

Disney’s latest family-friendly thrill ride TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens to the public Tuesday following months of anticipation as well as several sneak peeks.

Before you hop on your lightcycle and blast off, here are 9 things you should know first.

  • Guests will enter The Grid and board their Lightcycle and race through a high-speed adventure.
  • Disney said TRON Lightcycle / Run will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.

  • Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride.
  • TRON Lightcycle / Run is located in the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom, near Space Mountain.
  • Similar to other hotly anticipated recently Disney attractions such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, TRON Lightcycle / Run will utilize a virtual queue. Guests can also purchase Individual Lightning Lane for the attraction. There will be no standby queue.

  • Merchandise will also be available, including a customizable TRON-inspired action figure. Click here for details.
  • The film is heavily based on the 2010 sequel “TRON: Legacy” and to a lesser extent the original 1982 film “TRON.” Both have inspired video games, comic books, TV shows, toys and now, a theme park attraction.
