FHP: Car crashes through Osceola County home, catches fire after driver has possible medical issue

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that ended with a car on fire inside an Osceola County home Thursday evening.

Troopers say a 38-year-old Kissimmee man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on Marbella Drive just north of Camino Real Drive around 6 p.m. when he possibly had some type of medical episode.

According to FHP, the jeep ran off the left side of the road and onto the sidewalk where it continued southbound until it struck a mailbox.

Troopers say the Jeep continued across Camino Real Drive until it collided with the front wall of a house.

According to FHP, the impact caused the jeep to burst into flames, burning a large portion of the home.

Fortunately, none of the eight people in the home at the time were hit by the jeep. However, a 65-year-old woman who was there had to be taken to Advent Health Hospital in Kissimmee to be evaluated.

The driver of the jeep was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital with serious injuries and was eventually stabilized.

The crash remains under investigation.
