OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Interstate-4 in Kissimmee that left one person dead and another critically injured early Saturday morning.

According to FHP, the crash happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. in the Eastbound lanes at mile marker 59, just south of State Road 429.
Troopers say three vehicles were involved in the crash: a 2006 Kia Sportage, a 2015 Subaru WRX, and a 2010 Jeep Wrangler.

According to FHP, the Sportage was traveling eastbound in the center lane of I-4 with the Subaru behind it. Troopers say the Subaru driver “failed to observe” the Sportage ahead and rear-ended it.
The impact forced the Subaru off the roadway to the left and onto the median before it collided with the center guardrail. The Sportage rotated clockwise before coming to a stop, disabled, across the center and outside lanes.
Troopers say the driver of the Jeep Wrangler didn’t see the Sportage stopped in the roadway and collided with its driver’s side.

The Sportage driver, identified as a 65-year-old woman from Lutz, was taken to Celebration Hospital and pronounced dead there.
The driver of the Subaru did not require a transport to the hospital and remained on scene to talk to troopers.
The driver of the jeep was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. A passenger in the jeep was taken to the same hospital in serious condition.

All eastbound lanes of I-4 were shut down for hours at Osceola Polk Line Rd. while troopers investigated the sequence of events leading up to the crash. The roadway has since reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
