Woman charged with murdering her sister

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A woman in St. Petersburg, Florida has been charged with murder after her sister was found dead in their house.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said they were called out to a house on Newton Avenue South just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a death investigation, according to WFLA. The victim was identified by police later as Sherry Lynn Howard, 54.

The woman’s sister, Charee Howard, 39, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, WTVT reported. Police say the two sisters lived together and that no one else was at the house at the time of the murder.

Charee Howard reportedly was the one who called 911 and said that she had killed her sister, according to an affidavit obtained by the Tampa Bay Times. Sherry Lynn Howard’s body was found on the floor by the front door and she appeared to have injuries that suggested she was choked.

The medical examiner is expected to determine the cause of death, WTVT reported.

The motive or what led up to the incident has not been released and remains under investigation.
