BROOKFIELD, Ill. — A polar bear is warming hearts with its adorable antics in the snow at an Illinois zoo.
According to The Associated Press, the Chicago Zoological Society captured footage of a Brookfield Zoo polar bear frolicking and rolling Wednesday as a massive winter storm system dumped snow and ice on several states.
But the animal’s actions weren’t just for play. Although polar bears “do seem to roll sometimes for fun, it’s also how they stay clean,” the zoo wrote in a social media post earlier this week.
“Clean polar bear fur is a better insulator than dirty fur, so when it’s cold out, they like to go for a swim and then roll in the snow,” read the post, which included another video of polar bears Hudson and Hope.
