If you’re planning to embark on a Royal Caribbean cruise from Florida and you’re not vaccinated against COVID-19, you will have additional paperwork to file with the company.
Royal Caribbean will require unvaccinated guests over the age of 12, who are starting their cruise in Florida, to show proof of insurance that covers coronavirus-related medical expenses, quarantine and evacuation.

The state bans companies from requiring people to show proof of vaccinations, but cruise lines are under a federal order that requires a majority of passengers and crew to have been vaccinated, Reuters reported.
The policy must have a $25,000 minimum per person for medical expenses and $50,000 per person for travel expenses, Royal Caribbean said, according to Reuters. The policy is for trips scheduled from Aug. 1 through the end of the year.
Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas recently returned from a test cruise and there are plans to have it sail from PortMiami in July.
