CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. — Troopers responding to a crash on a Missouri highway were shocked when they arrived and saw approximately 500 pounds of drugs on the road.
Troopers posted photos on Twitter that appear to show bags filled with marijuana littering the road. In a second tweet that featured a photo of the pile of packaged drugs in an evidence room, troopers said that it took more than one patrol car to transport all of the drugs.
Troopers told KOMU that the driver of a semitruck had swerved to avoid a previous crash, which resulted in the driver of a pickup truck losing control and hitting the back of the semi. The driver of the pickup, David Mora, as well as one of his passengers, Victor Gonzalez, are now facing drug trafficking charges, the station reported.
Highway patrol officers told KSDK that they believe all of the marijuana was in the pickup truck.
While the accident involved several vehicles, officers told KMBC that nobody was seriously hurt.
