Officials with Netflix announced Thursday it will be streaming a second season of the wildly popular “Tiger King” true crime series.
“Tiger King 2″ will begin streaming before the end of 2021, according to Netflix. It was one of five upcoming documentaries announced by the streaming company “exploring crimes, cons and scams.”
“Tiger King is coming back this year — and Season 2 promises just as much mayhem and madness as Season 1!” Netflix officials said in a social media post teasing the new season.
“Tiger King” drew 64 million viewers in the first four weeks after it premiered in March 2020, as people nationwide became stuck at home due to shutdowns prompted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The series focused on “Joe Exotic,” or Joseph Maldonado-Passage, a tiger breeder and owner of the G.W. Zoo in Oklahoma, and his years-long feud with Carole Baskin, the CEO of the non-profit Big Cat Rescue.
Last year, Maldonado-Passage was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison for charges including two counts of attempted murder-for-hire for a plot to kill Baskin. An appeals court later overturned his sentence, ruling that he should have been sentenced to between 17 1/2 and just under 22 years in prison.

Other upcoming Netflix shows announced Thursday include “The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman,” a three-part series focused on “the world’s most audacious (conman) who was convicted in 2005 for stealing fortunes and destroying multiple lives,” and “The Tinder Swindler,” about a conman who posed as a billionaire playboy on the dating app Tinder.
