Johnson had been scheduled to appear at a conference held by a group of his Tory Parliament members in Doncaster, but canceled the visit to travel to Kyiv, the BBC reported.
The visit comes as European Union leaders are backing Ukraine’s bid for candidacy status to join the multinational organization.
Johnson has been one of Ukraine’s strongest international supporters in that country’s war against Russia. The United Kingdom has already donated millions of dollars in military and humanitarian aid, the AP reported.
