The Food and Drug Administration and J.M. Smucker Co. have announced a recall of two lots of Meow Mix cat food because of potential salmonella contamination.
The variation of cat food subject to the recall is the Original Choice Dry Cat Food, which was sold in a 30lb bag.
The cat food was sold at Walmarts in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Only the following products are subject to the recall:
- Lot 1081804 with best if used by date of 9/14/2022
- Lot 1082804 with best if used by date of 9/15/2022
Cat owners are being told that if their Meow Mix was part of the recall that they should stop feeding it to their pet and dispose of the food, the FDA said.
