Recall alert: Dole recalls bags of mixed salad over listeria concerns

WASHINGTON — Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of garden salad due to a possible health risk from listeria, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Friday.

In a news release, the FDA said no illnesses connected to the recalled lot codes have been reported. The recalled salads are:

  • 24-ounce Dole Garden Salad, lot codes N28205A and N28205B and UPC code 0-71430-01136-2
  • 24-ounce Marketside Classic Salad, lot codes N28205A and N28205B and UPC code 6-81131-32895-1
  • 12-ounce Kroger Brand Garden Salad, lot codes N28211A and N28211B and UPC code 0-11110-91036-3
  • 12-ounce Salad Classics Garden Salad, lot codes N28211A and N28211B and UPC code 6-88267-18443-7

The products were sold in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia, the FDA said in its release. The expiration dates for all of the packages was Monday, the FDA said.

According to the FDA release, the recall was issued because of a sample of garden salad that yielded a positive result for listeria after a random test conducted by the Department of Agriculture in Georgia.
