In a news release, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the Metal Ware Corporation, of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, is recalling the NESCO Model CR-04-13 coffee bean roasters after receiving 20 reports of the product overheating. That caused the plastic on the product to melt and coffee beans to burn, the CPSC said. That burning caused flames and smoke to come from the roaster.

No injuries have been reported, the CPSC said.

The products have a date code of 2520 or 3220 printed at the bottom right of the ETL Intertek label on the product and on the box, according to the CPSC. NESCO is also printed in white on the black roasters.

The coffee bean roasters were sold at Blains Supply and Burman Coffee Traders stores nationwide and online at www.bodhileafcoffee.comwww.burmancoffee.comwww.eveythingkitchens.comwww.facebook.com/keystonehousewareswww.farmandfleet.comwww.kohls.comwww.sweetmarias.com, and www.wayfair.com, from August 2020 through December 2020. The cost of the item was approximately $85.

The CPSC recommended that consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Metal Ware for a full refund. Metal Ware will also provide free shipping for consumers who mail in the product. The consumer can choose between receiving a full refund in $85 cash or a $100 store credit for use at www.nesco.com.
