Monday is Presidents Day, a holiday that began as a celebration of President George Washington’s birthday, but has since been expanded to include a celebration of all the U.S. presidents.
The day is a federal holiday, meaning things like federal government offices and most state ones will be closed.

Here’s a look at other things that will be closed Monday.
Banks
Most banks and credit unions will be closed, though ATMs will be up and running.
Government offices
Federal government offices are closed and there will be no federal trials. The holiday is usually observed by states, which also close offices and suspend trials.
Grocery stores
Grocery stores generally do not close for Presidents Day nor change their hours.
The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail on Monday with the exception of Priority Mail Express. Post offices will be closed.
Other mail/package delivery
UPS and FedEx will make pickups and deliveries. Offices will be open.
Retailers
Retail stores generally do not close for Presidents Day, nor change their hours for the holiday.
Schools
Many schools have the day off, but not all of them.
Stock Exchanges
The U.S. markets will be closed in observance of the holiday.
