Procrastinators, rejoice!
For once, last-minute Christmas shopping won’t only be easy, it may keep you on the “nice” list indefinitely.
The next Powerball drawing is slated for 10:59 p.m. EST Christmas Day, WJW reported.
And with an estimated jackpot of $400 million that translates to a $292 million lump-sum payment, a last-gasp Christmas Eve dash could transform a stocking stuffer from an afterthought into an inheritance - or at least a modest finder’s fee.
According to Powerball officials, jackpot-winning numbers have not been selected in the past 34 drawings, resulting in the hefty potential Christmas windfall.
The last winning Powerball ticket claimed came Oct. 4, when a player won $699.8 million. Meanwhile, the largest Powerball jackpot disbursed to date was the $1.586 billion payout split by three winners in 2016, CNN reported.
