Myles Cosgrove was fired in January following an investigation into the March 13, 2020, shooting of Taylor as officers were serving a search warrant at her apartment.

The Louisville Metro Police Merit Board is scheduled to begin hearing Cosgrove’s request for reinstatement on Tuesday.

Taylor, 26, was killed when Cosgrove and two other officers attempted to serve a search warrant at her apartment. The three officers fired 32 rounds in the apartment.

Cosgrove was fired in January when the FBI determined one of the 16 shots he fired was the one that struck and killed Taylor. Detective Joshua Jaynes was also fired in January and a third detective, Brett Hankison, was fired in June for “blindly” firing 10 rounds into Taylor’s apartment.

Cosgrove was fired for “failing to properly identify a target.”

No criminal charges were filed in the shooting. Taylor’s family settled a wrongful-death lawsuit with the city for $12 million.

According to a notice from the merit board, the hearing will be livestreamed. The livestream can be viewed via Facebook by searching “Louisville Metro Police Merit Board.”
