PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police took a delivery driver into custody after a shooting sent a fast-food employee to the hospital.
Police told WPVI that a delivery driver working for DoorDash got into an argument with an employee of a Chick-fil-A because the driver believed a milkshake was missing from an order. Police said that the 17-year-old was shot, even after employees had agreed to make the missing milkshake.
The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, WCAU reported.
Police told WCAU that surveillance cameras outside of the Chick-fil-A recorded the shooting, and that officers found a spent shell casing outside of the restaurant.
“We’re pretty confident we’ll be able to identify not only the vehicle but the shooter involved in this incident,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told WCAU.
Police told WPVI that they had taken the DoorDash driver into custody, but did not release his name.
In a statement, a DoorDash spokesperson said, “We are horrified and appalled by this brazen act of violence, and have banned the perpetrator from our platform. We are fully supporting law enforcement with their investigation and hope justice is served. We’ve reached out to the victim to offer our support, and our thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers.”
