We now know who will be vying for the Oscar this year.
Leading the pack is the Benedict Cumberbatch film “The Power of the Dog” with a dozen nominations. The remake of “Dune” has 10.
“The Power of the Dog” is up against films: “Belfast,” “Coda,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Drive My Car,” “Dune,” “King Richard,” “Licorice Pizza,” “Nightmare Alley” and “West Side Story” for the Best Picture category.
In the Leading Actress category, Kristen Stewart was nominated for her portrayal as Princess Diana in “Spencer.” She’s competing against Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Colman and Penélope Cruz.
In the Leading Actor category, Cumberbatch is nominated alongside Javier Bardem, Will Smith, Andrew Garfield and Denzel Washington.
For the Animated Feature Film category, Disney’s “Encanto” is up against “Flee,” “The Mitchells vs. the Machines,” “Luca” and “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
“Encanto’s” “Dos Oruguintas” was nominated for best Original Song along with “Be Alive” from “King Richard,” “Down to Joy” from “Belfast,” “No Time To Die” from the James Bond movie of the same name and “Somehow You Do” from “Four Good Days.”
The Oscar ceremony will be held on March 27 at the Dolby Theater, the AP reported.
