The company confirmed that it has paused its two-day and three-day freight services because the highly contagious omicron variant has decimated staffing in recent days, Reuters reported.

According to the news outlet, Tuesday’s suspension mirrors an omicron-fueled surge that caused staffing shortages in January that resulted in delays in shipments transported via aircraft.

The news comes one day after FedEx resumed international economy freight pick-up services, which had been paused briefly for similar staffing issues, The Hill reported.
