BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. — At least five people died Wednesday after what appears to be a “significant tornado” touched down in Bollinger County, Sheriff Casey Graham said.
Graham did not immediately identify the people killed as authorities continued search and rescue efforts on Wednesday afternoon. The sheriff said he was focused “on ensuring those who still need help are receiving it” and on ensuring that officials can account for all citizens.
Authorities did not immediately say if any other people were injured or how many people remained unaccounted for. Crews from several agencies, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol, were aiding the search for survivors.
