Betsy DeHaan told WSVN that she took her pit bull, Harley, out for a bathroom break in 2014. When she turned her head, the dog ran into the woods.

DeHaan and her family searched for Harley without success.

“We searched and cruised and looked and put up posters and sent out the wanted, missing pet and just never stopped looking for him,” DeHaan told WINK.

Harley had been microchipped, but anyone who found him didn’t check it to alert his owner. Harley was found in a Fort Myers park over the weekend, extremely malnourished, WINK reported.

“We got the text on Saturday,” DeHaan told WSVN. “And I’m like, ‘Is this a scam?’ Because we were talking about him that morning. You know, what an amazing dog and where could Harley be if he’s still out there?”

DeHaan and her family had moved to Missouri, but immediately drove over 1,000 miles to Fort Myers to be reunited with Harley, WSVN reported.
