Police said five people who were shot were taken by ambulance to hospitals, another gunshot victim was taken using their own transportation and another victim was not hit with a bullet but injured was part of the melee.

None of the victims’ identities have been released. Officials did say the victims were not University of Georgia students.

Investigators said Williams turned himself in Monday. Authorities said multiple arrest warrants were issued but did not release the charges that would be filed.

Investigators believe it was an isolated incident.

“At this point we do think Mr. Williams was associated with some of the people fighting, so we don’t think this was just a random attack of downtown patrons,” Athens-Clarke County police Lt. Shaun Barnett told WSB.
