TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida deputy was a hero to an injured owl last week.
According to a tweet by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Kertesz responded to a call about an injured owl in western Tampa.
When Kertesz arrived, she found the owl on the ground, apparently suffering from a wing injury, WTSP reported.
The deputy wrapped up the bird in a sheet and took it to an area animal hospital.
The bird was later transported to a local owl rescue center, where officials will help nurse it back to health so it can fly again, the sheriff’s office said.
“The owl is expected to make a full recovery,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.
