TACOMA, Wash. — One person was seriously injured on Black Friday in a shooting that was reported at the Tacoma Mall, KIRO-TV reported.
Sgt. Darren Moss Jr. of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department told KIRO that people were hiding in the mall Friday night after between three and 15 shots were fired in the food court. Stores went into lockdown in response to the gunfire, he said.
Update 7:02 a.m. EST Nov. 27: One person was in serious condition after the shooting at the Tacoma Mall, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
The shooting apparently came after an argument between two people, according to Tacoma police spokesperson Gary Wurges.
“Everybody was terrified. Everybody started running and screaming. It was crazy,” Jessica Freer, a mall worker, told the television station.
“It was super fast,” Heather Cruz, another worker at the mall, told KIRO. “Like, I didn’t even know anything was happening until she started yelling for me and by then the doors were already closed.”
