Less than a week before Christmas, many children have had outstanding questions about if Santa Claus will be able to visit their homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

During another episode of Sesame Street’s “ABCs of Coronavirus” series, children asked a number of questions related to the virus, including, “How can Santa Claus safely give out presents with COVID-19 spreading everywhere?” and “Will Santa still be able to visit me in coronavirus this season?”

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci told little ones there’s nothing to fear because he personally delivered the vaccine to Saint Nick.

“I took care of that for you because I was worried that you’d all be upset,” Fauci said. “I took a trip up there to the North Pole. I went there and I vaccinated Santa Claus myself. I measured his level of immunity, and he is good to go.”

“He can come down the chimney. He can leave the presents. He can leave, and you have nothing to worry about,” he added. “Santa Claus is good to go.”

In an interview Friday with NBC, Fauci said he is “ready to go” and is waiting on the NIAID to receive its allocation of the vaccine.

“I’m going to get vaccinated as soon as I can. I hope that’s going to be within the next few days to the early part of next week,” he said.

The White House Coronavirus Task Force member and director of the NIAID for 36 years could potentially receive the vaccine during his birthday week. He will turn 80 on Christmas Eve.
