Alvis Lorraine Parrish, 54, of Jacksonville, faces a charge of poisoning food or water with intent to kill or injure a person, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

According to an arrest report, officers arrived at Parrish’s home on Dec. 7 and found her sitting on her front porch,” WJAX-TV reported.

The woman was yelling, “Yeah, I did it ... because he wouldn’t shut the (expletive) up,” the sheriff’s arrest report stated. Parrish also said, “I gave him just enough to shut him up and called y’all so he wouldn’t die.”

As deputies were putting Parrish in handcuffs, she reportedly said, “Do whatever you want. If you don’t take me, I will kill him,” according to the arrest report.

Deputies said Parrish put Seroquel, an antipsychotic drug in the drink of William Carter, 61, of Jacksonville, with whom she had been living for nine years, according to The Associated Press.

According to the National Alliance of Mental Illness, Seroquel is an antipsychotic drug used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression, WJAX reported.

The arrest report stated that Parrish not only told the officers about poisoning Carter but that she had also written what she did to him in a notebook, the television station reported.

Initially, Carter did not want to go to a hospital, but he was taken to an emergency room after he collapsed to the floor, according to the AP.

Parrish remained in jail, with bail set at $50,003, according to online booking records. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec. 29, records show.
