COMFORT, Texas — Half of the graduating class at a Texas high school were suspended over a senior prank.
About 40 students, half of the graduating senior class, placed forks on the practice field at Comfort High School; however, some of them took it further, going inside the school after it was closed, WOAI reported.
“It was a harmless senior prank that all of us parents knew 100% what was going on,” Hope Jay, parent of two seniors, told WOAI. “They had planned as a group, you know, 40 students, which is half the senior class at Comfort High School. They had planned to fork the field, which is putting plastic forks in the dirt.”
Some of the students took the prank further, but did not cause any permanent damage.

“For the most part, there were balloons, there was a deer that went crooked on the wall, there was some saran wrap, there’s been no damage, no destruction, no graffiti, no defacing of property and no police reports,” Jay said.
Parents said all the students involved were given in-school suspensions for the final two weeks of the school year.
The Comfort High School principal and district superintendent said they could not comment on disciplinary actions regarding students or any possible damage.
Bruce Lott, whose son is the salutatorian, did not think the punishment fit the crime.
“You’re looking at your top 10, you’re looking at your valedictorian, your salutatorian and you’re looking at your honor society kids,” Lott said. “And this was, you know, a harmless prank that they were going to do just kind of as a goodbye, you know, put a fork in us kind of a deal.”
Shannon Tonroy, whose daughter is the valedictorian, thought the suspension was the school’s version of a joke.
“We all actually kind of thought that this was their way of pranking us,” she said. “You know, they, the kids go in and prank them while they turn around and prank the kids. And that would have been absolutely fantastic, a great way to have dealt with it.”
