Original report: According to The Associated Press, the iconic Pennsylvania groundhog will reveal his annual forecast around dawn Wednesday from Gobbler’s Knob in a tradition that began in 1887. If Phil sees his shadow after emerging from his burrow, “he regards it as an omen of six more weeks of winter and returns to his hole, and if not, he predicts that spring is just around the corner,” the Pennsylvania Tourism Office wrote.

Although last year’s ceremony was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers hope that thousands will travel to Punxsutawney for this year’s festivities, the AP reported. The tourism office is also streaming the event online.
