Miranda Kizziar braved a snowstorm with a friend and drove to a convenience store to buy $100 worth of lottery tickets in southeastern Idaho. After winning $256, she bought another $100 in scratch-off tickets. One of them was worth $50,000, Idaho Lottery officials said in a news release on Wednesday.

Kizziar bought the tickets at KJ’s Kwik Stop in Malad City after stopping at the store with her friend, according to the release. She hit the big jackpot playing the Bonus Circle on an Ol’ Money Bags scratch-off game.

“This win was straight from my dad in heaven,” Kizziar told lottery officials.

Her father died nearly two years ago.

Kizziar said she made the road trip with her friend, whose brother had died two days earlier, according to lottery officials.

The two women were trying to “get out of the house” for a few days, and the lottery win was a positive boost.

They broke out some champagne at a local friend’s home to celebrate Kizziar’s good fortune. It was unclear when Kizziar bought the ticket, but lottery officials published a photo of the winner with a check dated Oct. 24.

Kizziar said she will use the money to pay bills and will put some of it in her savings account.

Not surprisingly, she is also planning another road trip.
