BARNSTABLE, Mass. — Two geese that have melted the hearts of animal lovers have been reunited and are even sharing a meal.
Arnold, a goose that lives in a pond near the Cape Wildlife Center, had two fractures to his foot that needed to be repaired so he had to undergo surgery.
His mate, Amelia, waited at the clinic’s door, tapping on the glass to find out where Arnold had gone.
“As we prepared to sedate Arnold and get him ready for surgery, we heard a faint tapping at the clinic door,” the center shared on Facebook. “We turned to see that his mate had waddled up onto the porch and was attempting to break into our clinic. She had somehow located him and was agitated that she could not get inside.”

When Arnold’s procedure was done, the pair reunited through an open door.
“His mate immediately calmed down and began to groom him through the door. They both seemed much more at ease in each other’s presence,” the clinic workers shared.
Days after Arnold and Amelia’s story went viral, the clinic posted an update.
Arnold is recovering and becoming stronger every day. Amelia is still close and visits on the porch every day.
