BARNSTABLE, Mass. — Two geese that have melted the hearts of animal lovers have been reunited and are even sharing a meal.
Arnold, a goose that lives in a pond near the Cape Wildlife Center, had two fractures to his foot that needed to be repaired so he had to undergo surgery.
His mate, Amelia, waited at the clinic’s door, tapping on the glass to find out where Arnold had gone.
“As we prepared to sedate Arnold and get him ready for surgery, we heard a faint tapping at the clinic door,” the center shared on Facebook. “We turned to see that his mate had waddled up onto the porch and was attempting to break into our clinic. She had somehow located him and was agitated that she could not get inside.”

When Arnold’s procedure was done, the pair reunited through an open door.
“His mate immediately calmed down and began to groom him through the door. They both seemed much more at ease in each other’s presence,” the clinic workers shared.
Days after Arnold and Amelia’s story went viral, the clinic posted an update.
Arnold is recovering and becoming stronger every day. Amelia is still close and visits on the porch every day.

On Monday, the couple was able to share a meal together in a temporary pen with Arnold staying inside the facility and Amelia staying on her porch, reaching in through the open door, workers shared.
Arnold and his mate, Amelia, enjoy a meal ❤️Arnold Update!!! We are happy to report Arnold is making progress, and is stronger everyday. He received a veterinary check and bandage change this morning and his foot already looks much better. We suspect he will be up and waddling in no time. His mate, named Amelia , remains close by and still visits the porch daily. We continued to do his treatments near the door and yesterday we managed to set up a temporary pen so they could share a meal. Arnold will remain inside our hospital while he finishes out his course of medications. Once his wounds are healed he will spend some time in an outdoor pen while he re-acclimates and prepares for release . Until then, our veterinary team will be standing by to provide Arnold with the best care possible. You Can help give Arnold (and thousands of other patients) a second chance in the wild by donating to help provide his food, medications, and veterinary care the link below, Thank you! 😁 https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/gZ6XZPXM1sT3-WJX8ik8hg
