BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Three gas station workers fought off a woman’s attacker and saved her from being abducted earlier this month.
Haley Silver, Brandy West and Ashley Vincent were working around 8:30 p.m. March 1 when a pregnant woman and her boyfriend stopped into the gas station for a few items, WBKO reported.
The woman approached the counter holding some snacks and asked the employees for help.
“She said, ‘my boyfriend, he’s going to — he’s threatening my life, I don’t feel safe,’” Vincent said. “She said, ‘just please help me.’”
The workers tried to buy some time until police arrived. They declined the purchase and gave explanations about the items for sale. They took the woman into the back room but her boyfriend, Antonio Smith, followed.
“(He) drug her from the office all the way back there to the door, outside, never let go of her,” Silver said.
Smith was holding the woman by her hair when the employees and some bystanders were able to pull him off of her and hold him until officers arrived. Smith was arrested and charged with assault, criminal mischief and wanton endangerment, WBKO reported.
