LONDON — “Game of Thrones” actress Natalie Dormer recently welcomed her first child, a baby girl.
According to People magazine and E! News, the 39-year-old, who played Margaery Tyrell in the hit HBO series, shared the news of the birth on the “That’s After Life!” podcast Tuesday. She and boyfriend David Oakes, who met in 2019, welcomed the baby three months ago, the entertainment outlets reported.
“It’s the perfect thing to do during a pandemic, is get pregnant and have a baby,” Dormer quipped on the podcast, later adding: “I think there’s going to be lots of COVID babies because what else could people do?”
Dormer did not reveal the name of the child, whom she described as an “absolute joy,” according to People.
Although Dormer hopes to return to stage work when London theaters reopen, she said it will be “very difficult” to be away from her daughter, E! reported.
“I mean for me, this is the perfect time to go back to the stage, because then I could be with her all day,” Dormer added, according to People. “But with COVID, who knows when that will happen.”
