Gretchen Buselli, 48, of Tallahassee, was found guilty by a federal jury for the use of an interstate commerce facility in the commission of a murder-for-hire plot, and for making a false statement to a federal officer, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

Buselli, who is also known as Gretchen Yarbrough, was arrested on Sept. 16, 2021, after federal agents said she agreed to pay a person $25,000 to kill her ex-husband, WCTV reported. The “hitman” was actually an undercover FBI agent, according to the television station.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida, Buselli mailed, called, texted and sent messages via an encrypted mobile application “to solicit the murder of her estranged husband.”

According to court documents, Buselli left a black bag at a designated seat at the Cascades Park amphitheater with a $5,000 down payment inside, WCTV reported. Prosecutors said she then agreed to pay the remaining balance once the job was complete.

The guilty verdict followed a five-day trial, according to the news release.

Buselli faces up to 10 years in prison, according to the Democrat. She will be sentenced on Oct. 27 in Tallahassee.
