CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Florida man was arrested Thursday after crashing a motorcycle while riding on it with a 17-month-old baby on his lap, investigators said.
Clearwater police said Dontrell Stanley, 35, ran a stop sign and thought he was going to hit an oncoming vehicle, so he dropped the motorcycle, WTVT reported.

The baby was thrown from the motorcycle and landed beneath the car, the Tampa Bay Times reported. She was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
Stanley, the child’s stepfather, was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was then arrested and charged with child neglect with great bodily harm and operating a motorcycle without a license, according to jail records. He was released on $10,250 bond.
